Rtd. Maj, Gen. Kasirye Ggwanga has been talked of by many as a man with impunity, who used his gun to get whatever he wanted or settle conflicts, someone that was untouchable for he got away with his mischievous acts, but as a coin has two sides, the man had a different side the public saw little of.

As details of his will were shared by his long-serving Camp David farm manager John Kikaawa, the 200-acre farmland had 30 workers that looked after his cattle, goats, trees, and food crops, and they remember him as a strict boss, but very generous.

According to Aisha Nantogo who and most workers at Camp David have spent 20 years as Kasirye’s employees; his death is a big blow to their livelihoods. Nantongo narrates that Kasirye went from being their boss to being their everything.

“Kasirye has been our everything. He has been paying school fees for our children and whenever any of us got sick, he would pay for our medical bills. He has been providing us with good meals and everything good,” Nantongo says.

The news of Kasirye’s death found his employees already in the farm working, and it took them some time to gather the strength to get out, according to Bukedde.

Kasirye Ggwanga’s funeral service is currently ongoing at Nkeni, Busujju, Mityana District where he will be laid to rest today, with UPDF, where he served from 1972 until his retirement in 2018, giving him a state send-off.
