As he continues to intensify his bid to end incumbent President Yoweri Museveni’s three-decade rule to an end, Presidential hopeful Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine says the unnecessary expenditures on government officials and Members of Parliament has for long been hurdle to Uganda’s growth.

Bobi said the regime is weirdly managing government funds especially through creating unnecessary positions. He stated the high number of ministers and Members of Parliament has done nothing to improve the service delivery despite be paid huge sums of tax payers’ money.

He said when he’s elected into the country’s top office, he will need only 30 ministers and 150 MPs contrary to the current government that has 31 Cabinet ministers and 49 Ministers of State.

For the 10th parliament, it has 426 MPs with each member earning a basic salary of Shs11.18 million, which is taxed. However, they also take home huge untaxed allowances, which elevates their total pay package above the Shs20 million-mark.

In the 11th parliament, the number will increase after Parliament approved the creation of 46 new Counties and five seats for the Elderly Persons. The 11th Parliament is anticipated to have 527 MPs.

Bobi Wine yesterday welcomed a number of members to his National Unity Platform party. They included professional teachers, boxers and members who crossed from the ruling NRM party.
