Following a failed attempt by Bobi Wine’s legal team to stop Uganda Revenue Authority from recalling their client’s car for re-inspection, the lawyers have today taken the car to URA. URA said that at the time it inspected the car they didn’t know that it was an armored car hence undervaluing it at 157m. It also asked Bobi Wine to present the car to it’s offices for re-inspection, an order which he declared to follow. Bobi Wine then appealed to the High Court to grant him an injunction against URA, an application which Justice Emmanuel Baguma early this week declined to grant citing it as improper. According to Baguma, Kyagulanyi didn’t present evidence to show that the re-calling of the said motor vehicle would cause him an irreparable injury which cannot be compensated by an award of damages. He added that the Court was not satisfied with Kyagulanyi’s claim that his main worry or concern not to take back the said vehicle for re_verification was that it is his main means of transport and his personal security. He also gave URA a go ahead to impound and re-examine the armoured Toyota Land Cruiser vehicle. Bobi Wine unveiled his car earlier this year a few weeks after the January polls and it immediately became the talk of town. URA came out and revealed that the Toyota Land Cruiser UBJ 667F was declared to customs as an ordinary car and was charged Shs88million.
