Following a directive by the President for security tracking devices to be installed in every vehicle and motorcycle, the Security Minister, Maj Gen Jim Muhwezi has said that the project is set to commence next month and will be handled by Global Security.

“We are working with a company(Global Security) which has technology. We shall kick off the exercise next month by signing a contract and the company will roll out centres around the country to register every vehicle and motorcycle afresh,” Muhwezi said.

He also said that the the public will pay for the services as government won’t inject any money in the project.
“Each individual will pay for the tracking devices like you pay for permit or third party insurance before putting the vehicle on the road. All vehicles will be registered to ensure they have that tracking device in them,” said Muhwezi.
