Former URA boss Doris Akol gets new job at IMF

The former Commissioner General of the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Doris Akol has taken a new job with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

According to the former KCCA Director Jennifer Musisi, Akol is now Technical Assistance Advisor at IMF.

“Congratulations to one of Africa’s most brilliant tax administrators and legal professionals on your ascension to Technical Assistance Advisor International Monetary Fund Doris Akol, they’ve grabbed a gem!” revealed Jennifer Musisi in a tweet.

Akol is a lawyer and administrator. Following her graduation from the Law Development Centre in 1994, she spent one year at Price Waterhouse Coopers, at their Kampala offices.

In 1995, she joined URA, as a Legal Officer. From 2012 until 2014, Doris Akol was the Commissioner for Legal Affairs and Board Matters at the Uganda Revenue Authority. In that capacity, she also served as the Company’s Legal Secretary.

In October 2014, she was appointed Commissioner general at URA replacing Allen Kagina, who retired after two consecutive five-year terms at the helm of the URA. She (Akol) assumed office on October 30.

In 2020, Akol was relieved of her duties at URA and John Musinguzi Rujoki was named as her replacement.
