KIRA: Police sniffer dog recovers stolen number plates

Police at Kira Division is investigating a case of vandalism and theft that took place in Kitikifumba Village, Kira Municipality.

It is alleged that unknown thugs had broken into the home of Franklin Mwongyera and vandalized his motor vehicle, stealing the number plates.

The police deployed its sniffer dog and it was able to track the stolen number plates.

“The K9 unit was able to track for about 1.4 km to a garden of sweet potatoes, where both the front and rear number plates of the vehicle with registration number UBE 021J were recovered. The recovered number plates have since been handed back to the owner,” said the police.

The police said that investigations are currently ongoing to identify the suspects behind this act of vandalism and theft.
