Uganda Crane’s mixed fortunes at the ongoing AFCON 2023 qualifiers evoked Ugandans to criticize head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic and called for his sacking.

Despite their poor AFCON qualifier and CHAN performances, the local football governing body, FUFA are ready to give him more time.

While addressing the media this afternoon at FUFA House in Mengo, FUFA president Moses Magogo said that Micho still holds his position.

“All positions at the different national teams are vacant apart from the Uganda Cranes positions which will be assessed after the AFCON 2023 Qualifiers campaign,” said Magogo.

Magogo explained that the decision was made on March 18 during the FUFA Executive Committee members’ meeting.

Uganda is third in Group F with four points. The group is led by Algeria with 12, Tanzania comes second with four points while Niger has two points.

The Cranes have two more games to play (Algeria and Niger). They have to win both games to be in pole position to qualify.

Meanwhile, Magogo hinted at the possibility of the Cranes returning to play at Namboole Stadium soon. The Cranes hosted their home game against Tanzania in Egypt.

“I have been in Namboole, there is work in progress, great work in progress I can tell you. I am confident we are getting a better facility,” he said.

Namboole has been under renovation since 2021.
