After 15 years in Parliament, outgoing Kira Municipality MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda is stepping into a new chapter—one that blends farming, party building, and mentoring young leaders.
Ssemujju, who lost his seat in the January 2026 general elections to George Musisi of the National Unity Platform (NUP), said he is gradually winding down his parliamentary duties as he transitions out of office.
“I have been picking my belongings from office gradually, more so to give Parliament time to prepare for the next legislators,” said Ssemujju during an interview on NBS TV.
He revealed that he is returning to farming, with an existing farm that includes coffee and banana plantations, which he now plans to manage more actively.
At the same time, Ssemujju says he will shift his focus to strengthening the People’s Front for Freedom, where he serves as Secretary General and chief of staff. With the party still developing, he intends to concentrate on grassroots mobilisation and recruitment.

“I have not had time to concentrate on the party, but now I will prioritise registering members and getting the grassroots of the party structures,” he said.
Reflecting on his electoral defeat, Ssemujju accepted the outcome, acknowledging that voters made a clear decision in choosing his opponent.
He also expressed gratitude to the people of Kira for entrusting him with leadership for 15 years, suggesting that the electorate may have opted for change.
“They gave me 15 years. Perhaps they now feel it is time for a fresh chapter,” he said.
Ssemujju first entered Parliament in 2016 with a commanding victory and was re-elected in 2021. His departure now marks the end of a significant political run in Kira Municipality as he pivots to life beyond elective office.
