Dr Twaha Kagabo, the Member of Parliament for Bukoto South, has been vocal about his dissatisfaction with his party, the National Unity Platform (NUP), alleging a lack of respect for party leaders.

Kagabo gained attention in August last year when he attempted to return an alleged sum of Shs40 million that he reportedly received from the Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, under unclear circumstances. He now asserts that NUP’s politics are built on hate.

Speaking on NBS TV, Kagabo criticized the party’s stance, stating, “Choosing hateful aggression over respectful discourse with political opponents is a road to self-destruction.”

He further expressed that meeting and interacting with political opponents is strictly forbidden within NUP.

Kagabo went on to explain that due to these reasons, he has chosen to cease paying his subscription fee to NUP.

In his recent move, he joined the MK Movement, a pressure group led by First Son Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba. He emphasized that his decision to enter politics was driven by a desire to contribute to national development and promote responsible leadership, rather than seeking personal fame.

Despite NUP’s repeated promises to take disciplinary action against Kagabo, the MP stated that he has never been summoned by his party.
