Evelyn Anite, the Minister of State for Privatization and Investment, is calling on people to refrain from using the nickname ‘Majje’ to address her. The moniker originated during the age limit debate in 2017.

During the debate, a confrontation ensued between a group of National Resistance Movement (NRM) MPs led by Anite and opposition MPs who had voiced their intent to physically confront anyone supporting constitutional amendments. In response to the threats, Anite said that their NRM faction was prepared for both intellectual and physical battles.

“You can’t tell us ‘Tojjiikwatako’ when it’s our job. It’s like telling us not to do our job. We will not succumb to intimidation. We have the support, even the support of the Majje (army),” she said.

Since then, she has been commonly referred to as ‘Majje.’

However, in her recent social media post, Anite shared that her trust lies in Jesus, not in the term ‘Majje.’

“The truth is, the source of my joy and strength is Jesus, not ‘Majje,'” she said in a post.
