President Yoweri Museveni has dropped several senior ministers and long-serving government officials as he unveiled his new Cabinet for the 2026–2031 term.
Among the biggest changes is the exit of veteran Finance Minister Matia Kasaija, who has been replaced by Henry Musasizi as Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development.
Veteran politician Moses Ali has also been removed from his role as Second Deputy Prime Minister and Leader of Government Business. He has been replaced by Dr Crispus Kiyonga.
In the Energy Ministry, Dr. Monica Musenero Musanza has been appointed, replacing Ruth Nankabirwa, while Gen David Muhoozi has also lost the Internal Affairs docket to Ephraim Kamuntu.
Gen Jeje Odongo has also been left out of the new Cabinet after serving as Minister of Foreign Affairs. He has been replaced by Ambassador Adonia Ayebare.
Long-serving minister Henry Okello Oryem has also lost his position as State Minister for International Affairs. Calvin Echodu has been appointed to take over the role.
Betty Amongi has been removed as Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development. Henry Tumukunde will take over the role.
Balaam Barugahara has also been appointed Minister of Local Government, replacing Raphael Magyezi.
Meanwhile, some of the dropped ministers have been given new roles as Senior Presidential Advisors. They include Hamson Obua, Ruth Nankabirwa, Francis Mwebesa, and Evelyn Anite.
