UPDF soldier shoots two colleagues dead

Authorities in Fort Portal are investigating a tragic incident where a Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) soldier allegedly shot and killed two of his fellow colleagues.

The soldier in question, Cpl Avugo Lomuro, who is a member of the Airforce Evacuation Component attached to the Mountain Division Signal Department, is currently on the run following the Thursday night shooting.

Confirming the incident, Col Deo Akiiki, the UPDF deputy spokesperson, stated, “We have received a report regarding an incident involving Cpl Avugo Lomuro of the Mountain Division Signal Department, who is attached to the Airforce Evacuation Component. Regrettably, he shot and killed two colleagues while injuring another.”

Akiiki further revealed that efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the fleeing soldier. He emphasized that the UPDF is committed to ensuring that the perpetrator faces justice for his actions.
