Police in the Greater Bushenyi and Rubirizi regions have arrested a 40-year-old man, identified as Owoyesigyire Denis, a resident of Munyonyi II “A” cell in Rubirizi district for the murder of his wife and three children on September 9.

According to the police, the suspect returned home late at night, under the influence of alcohol, and engaged in a heated argument with his 28-year-old wife, Musimenta Asanasi.

“He grabbed a machete and attacked his wife, inflicting fatal wounds to her head and hands, resulting in her immediate demise,” said the police.

The police say that he then turned his aggression towards his children.

“His four-year-old son, Akandwanaho Andrew, fell victim to a vicious attack on his head, while his three-year-old daughter, Akanyijuka Javira, suffered a grievous injury to her waist. He also smashed the head of their 2-month-old son, Atwijukire Davis,” said the police.

The suspect fled to his father’s residence, where he was found and arrested. The suspect now faces four counts of murder.
