Uganda Airlines reached a significant milestone on Saturday by launching their first-ever nonstop flight from Entebbe to India. The flight, headed to Mumbai, was under the command of Captain Robert Wakhweya Bwayo, with the assistance of Captain Jeevan Joy and First Officer Brian Ochen. A total of 58 passengers were on board.

The Airbus Flight UR430 of Uganda Airlines took off from Entebbe International Airport (EBB) at 1:39 pm. After being in the air for nearly six and a half hours, the flight safely touched down at Mumbai International Airport (BOM) at around 8:09 pm.

Before the Uganda Airlines Airbus departed, a ceremonial event marked the occasion, celebrating the inauguration of this new flight route. This route is expected to greatly benefit travel and trade between Uganda and India.

General Katumba Wamala, the Minister for Works and Transport, emphasized the importance of this route. He noted that many Ugandans go to India for education and medical treatment, while a considerable number of Indians visit Uganda for business, tourism, and various other reasons. The direct flight on Uganda Airlines is seen as a way to strengthen the ties between the two nations and enhance their partnership.

Jenifer Bamuturaki, the CEO of Uganda Airlines, expressed optimism that this new Mumbai route, the second international route after Dubai, and the 12th route overall, will boost the airline’s profitability in the aviation industry.

Uganda Airlines plans to operate flights on the Entebbe-Mumbai route three times a week, providing passengers with convenient travel options on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
