Jinja Road Police have arrested one Mercy Alowo, a probationary police constable (PPC) suspected of stabbing her lover to death. The incident occurred on Sunday following a domestic altercation between the two.

Reports indicate that Mercy Alowo, who completed a police basic course three months ago and was undergoing practical training at Jinja Road Police Division, allegedly stabbed Wilfred Okori inside Luzira Prisons in Nakawa Division, Kampala.

“On Sunday, Okori instructed Alowo to vacate her residence and begin living with her fellow trainees, which she disagreed with. Okori then proceeded to discard Alowo’s belongings outside the house,” said the police.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, stated that investigations are ongoing to ascertain what exactly prompted Alowo to fatally stab her lover.

Owoyesigyire added that different accounts are emerging, with some suggesting it was a domestic dispute resulting in death, while others claim the trouble began over a mobile phone.
