Police have introduced new regulations limiting musicians and entertainers to a maximum of five companions in public, following violent incidents involving prominent artists Alien Skin and Pallaso.

The directive, announced on Monday by Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango, comes in response to a series of altercations that escalated last week. Onyango emphasized that these measures aim to prevent further unrest and maintain public order.

The decision follows a violent feud between the two musicians. On New Year’s Day, a brawl erupted when Alien Skin’s associates allegedly assaulted Pallaso during the Empere Festival in Entebbe. Pallaso retaliated by raiding Alien Skin’s home, damaging property, including vehicles.

Speaking at a media briefing, Onyango condemned the violence and outlined the new restrictions. “As Kampala Metropolitan and the joint security team, we do not want to see any artist moving with a group of youth hooligans trying to cause havoc,” he said. “Musicians will now be limited to five team members in public.”

The five permitted team members must include the artist’s DJ, manager, secretary, treasurer, and one personal security guard. Onyango warned that anyone exceeding this limit risks arrest. “If caught, the artist will be responsible for clarifying who among their entourage is allowed,” he added.
