Police in Naggalama have rescued 51 individuals who were victims of a suspected human trafficking and job scam.

According to reports, on Thursday, police received information about a fraudulent job recruitment scheme operated by AIM Global Alliance, a networking company in the Naggalama division.

The company allegedly deceived job seekers by promising employment opportunities, only to exploit them for financial gain.

It is alleged that victims were instructed to bring Shs 150,000 upon reporting for work, purportedly as a training fee.

However, after handing over their money, they were forced into a cycle of recruitment. Their phones were confiscated, and they were pressured to recruit friends and relatives, who were then required to pay Shs 1.5 million to buy the company’s products.

The victims were falsely promised that, over time, they could earn at least Shs 1 million per month based on the number of people they recruited and the sales they made.

Police carried out operations in different areas of Kalagi, uncovering victims living in overcrowded and inhumane conditions.

In Kakola Village, Kyabakadde Parish, Kyampisi Sub-County, Mukono District, 14 victims, including 3 males and 11 females, were found sleeping in a single room. In Kalagi Village, Naggalama A Ward, Nakifuma-Naggalama Town Council, Mukono District, 20 victims, comprising 10 males and 10 females, were discovered crammed into a small single room. Bbosa Village, Kyabakadde Parish had 14 victims, including 6 males and 8 females, all found living in similar conditions.

The suspected recruiters, identified as Kasule Zephaniah and Nantima Evelyn, have been arrested and are currently detained at Naggalama Police Station as investigations continue.

Authorities urge job seekers to be cautious of fraudulent recruitment schemes and report suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
