Watoto Church in Uganda has announced the dismissal of one of its pastors over allegations of sexual immorality. The announcement was made on Sunday, 10 August, through a video message broadcast during services across all its campuses.

In the message, the church leadership reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high moral standards, stressing that leaders are expected to live as examples to the congregation.

Pastor Julius Rwotlonyo, the team leader at Watoto Church Ministries, described the matter as “unfortunate” and a deeply saddening moment for the church, stressing that such conduct undermines the institution’s core values.

Although he declined to share specific details of the alleged misconduct, Pastor Rwotlonyo reiterated the church’s dedication to walking in righteousness and ensuring all members, especially those in leadership, are held accountable to biblical principles.

Established in 1984 as Kampala Pentecostal Church (KPC) before adopting its current name, Watoto Church has grown into one of Uganda’s largest evangelical congregations, with multiple campuses nationwide. Beyond its worship services, the church is widely recognised for its extensive community outreach programmes, notably through Watoto Child Care Ministries.
