The nomination of candidates for the 2026 Parliamentary Elections has commenced at various district Electoral Commission (EC) offices across the country.

The two-day nationwide exercise will cover 353 directly elected Members of Parliament, 146 District Woman Representatives, and 20 representatives for Special Interest Groups (SIGs), including older persons, persons with disabilities, workers, and youth.

Electoral Commission Chairperson, Justice Simon Byabakama, emphasised that all aspirants must present the required documents, including duly filled nomination forms signed by two registered voters, proof of payment of the Shs3 million nomination fee via the URA online system, and certified academic credentials equivalent to Advanced Level or higher.
