Uncertainty still surrounds the death of Kalangala District Woman MP Hellen Nakimuli, with medical experts yet to determine the exact cause.
Speaking on Monday, Joel Ssenyonyi, the Leader of the Opposition and spokesperson of the National Unity Platform (NUP), confirmed that her body had been retrieved from Mulago City Mortuary following a postmortem examination.
He said pathologists have not reached a final conclusion and are carrying out additional tests, including a review of the surgical procedure she underwent shortly before her death. A detailed report is expected once the investigations are complete.
Nakimuli died on Sunday after surgery, a development that has sparked concern and widespread reactions across political circles and the public.
Meanwhile, Parliament has released a detailed programme for her final send-off, with burial set for Thursday, April 23, 2026, at her ancestral home in Luweero District.

The arrangements begin on Monday, April 20, when the body will be transported to Kalangala District by ferry via Nakiwogo after the postmortem process.
On Tuesday, April 21, the body will lie at Kalangala District Headquarters for public viewing and a special council tribute, before returning to Kampala through Masaka for an overnight stay.
On Wednesday, April 22, the body will be taken to Parliament for public viewing and a special sitting in her honour. It will later be moved to the NUP headquarters in Makerere Kavule and then to her home in Namungoona for an overnight vigil.
The final day, Thursday, April 23, will begin with a funeral service at Namungoona Orthodox Church, followed by burial in Luweero.
