Police in Wakiso District have launched investigations into a violent robbery captured in a video that has been circulating on social media, showing a group of men attacking an individual with machetes.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala, the incident occurred in the early hours of June 15, 2026, in Kigwanya Zone, Nabbingo Parish, Kyengera Town Council.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim was returning home from work with his girlfriend at around 2:00 a.m. when they were ambushed by a gang of about seven men armed with pangas.

The attackers reportedly assaulted the victim before robbing him of his belongings and fleeing the scene.

The incident came to public attention after a video of the attack surfaced online, prompting concern among residents and social media users.

Kawala said police at Nsangi immediately took up the matter and have since opened investigations to establish the identities of those involved.

She added that a specialised team has been tasked with tracking down the suspects and ensuring they are arrested and prosecuted.

Police have appealed to members of the public who may have information that could assist the investigation to come forward as efforts to hunt for the attackers continue.
