In an effort to make the capital city Kampala a better city, the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) does not rest. From running around with street vendors to working on several projects like roads, drainage systems in the city, markets and sanitation among others, the team at City Hall is one you can say is dedicated.

Some of these projects are still on going, while others have finally been completed. Of those completed is the Kasubi Market in Lubaga Division which has been under construction for eight months.

Today, the KCCA Spokesperson Peter Kaujju has said that the new market has been technically handed over to KCCA by the contractor, and that it is going to be opened soon. The new market has a capacity to house 1500 vendors.

“Opening soon is another key public infrastructure program by Government of Uganda! Today, we had a technical handover of Kasubi Market from the contractor who has been at the job for some eight months. The market will house 1500 vendors who have withstood the scorching sun with rays and clouds with rain for decades,” Kaujju said.

The roadside market at Kasubi which sells all kinds of things from foodstuffs to fruits, meat, charcoal and vegetables among others has been operational since 1958.
