Nsasiirwe Keinembabazi Karugire, the daughter of Edwin Karugire and Natasha Museveni, on Saturday held her Kuhingira ceremony, formally sealing her engagement in a culturally rich event attended by family and close friends.

The ceremony, which also drew the presence of her grandfather, President Yoweri Museveni, marked her official introduction to the family of her fiancé—the son of Lt. Gen. Sam Kavuma—bringing together two prominent Ugandan families ahead of their wedding.

Kuhingira, a deeply rooted tradition among the Banyankole and Bakiga, is a ceremonial “giveaway” where the bride’s family formally hands her over to the groom’s side.

It is typically one of the final steps before marriage and is celebrated with music, cultural rituals, and the exchange of gifts, symbolising unity and the strengthening of family ties.

Warm congratulations to the young couple on this special milestone.
