Spice Diana confiscates music equipment over unpaid performance fee balance

Singer Spice Diana, born Diana Namukwaya, caused a dramatic scene in Bukomansimbi on Saturday night after a payment dispute with show promoters.

The singer went ahead with her performance despite not receiving her full pay. But mid-show, she paused and openly confronted the organisers, accusing them of failing to clear her balance.

She made it clear she would not leave empty-handed, insisting she had a team depending on her income.

After finishing her set, the situation escalated. Spice Diana took some of the event equipment, saying it matched the unpaid amount, before exiting the venue.

Later, she took to Snapchat to vent her frustration, explaining the long and difficult journey she had made to the show, only to be left unpaid. She stressed that music is her livelihood and warned that she does not take financial matters lightly.

The incident highlights a growing problem in Uganda’s entertainment scene, where some promoters reportedly fail to honour full payment agreements. While some artistes refuse to perform until they are fully paid, others go on stage to avoid disappointing fans—only for disputes like this to unfold afterwards.
