The National Council of Sports (NCS) has requested Shs379 billion to facilitate Uganda’s preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which the country will co-host with Kenya and Tanzania.

Additionally, the council is seeking Shs5.3 billion to support the Uganda Cranes’ preparations for crucial international tournaments.

This funding request was disclosed by James Kubeketerya, Chairperson of Parliament’s Education and Sports Committee, during the presentation of the committee’s report on the 2025/26 Budget Framework Paper to the Budget Committee.
