Veteran Ugandan goalkeeper Denis Onyango has penned a one-year contract extension with South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns, cementing his legacy with an incredible 20 consecutive seasons in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).
The 40-year-old shot-stopper, who celebrated his milestone birthday in May, continues to defy expectations with his enduring presence at the top level. His illustrious career has made him the most decorated player in South African domestic football history.
Onyango’s trophy cabinet is unmatched—he has clinched 12 league titles, a CAF Champions League crown, the CAF Super Cup, the inaugural African Football League, three Nedbank Cups, two Telkom Knockouts, and an MTN8 title.
Though he officially retired from international duty with Uganda in 2021, Onyango remains a key figure at Sundowns and within African football. Most recently, he travelled with the team to the United States for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, continuing to represent the continent on the global stage.
