In his remarks, Pulle commended the organizers for using sports as a tool for empowerment, noting that inclusion begins with creating opportunities that build confidence and dignity among people with disabilities.

The event featured a 5km race, which drew both able-bodied and differently-abled participants. Eric Paul Bukenya, emerged winner, followed by Francis Luyinda and Kalule Patrick, in second, and third place respectively.

Peninah Nakandi, the Executive Director of PIB-UG, said the run was designed to bring attention to the potential and talent of persons with disabilities, while supporting initiatives that promote self-sufficiency.

“This run is not just about participation, but empowerment. Through initiatives like these, we are working to create jobs, provide training, and strengthen networks that enable persons with disabilities to thrive in business and society,” she said.

I&M Bank Uganda, known for its strong community partnerships, extended sponsorship and was an active participant in the event. Bank staff joined runners in the race, demonstrating the bank’s commitment to social inclusion and community development.

Annette Nakiyaga, I&M Bank’s Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, reaffirmed the bank’s dedication to supporting inclusive initiatives that drive real impact.

“At I&M Bank, we are committed to creating meaningful impact and opening up opportunities that help people live more fulfilling lives. Partnering with PIB-UG on the Disability Run aligns with our purpose of empowering communities and promoting inclusion for all,” Nakiyaga said.
