With just over a week to go, the Gulu City Marathon is in the final countdown ahead of the race on Saturday, December 6th at Kaunda Grounds.

The official marathon kits, prepared for over a thousand of runners expected at the event, were recently handed over to key partners, including Tusker Lite, signaling that the stage is set for the race.

The Gulu City Marathon kit celebrates the culture, heritage, and resilience of Northern Uganda, especially the Acholi community. Its colors and traditional patterns reflect local art, while symbols like the elephant convey strength and unity. It also represents the city’s journey from past conflicts to growth and pride, connecting runners to the region’s heritage and supporting local community initiatives.

On Monday, November 24, Desire Diana Amviko, Partnerships Associate and Ambassador for the Gulu City Marathon, handed over kits to the Tusker Lite brand team at Uganda Breweries Ltd headquarters in Luzira, Kampala.

According to Denise Nazzinda, the Tusker Lite Brand Manager, the brand is proud to be part of the Gulu City Marathon, which provides an opportunity to celebrate bold individuals who live fully, pursue their passions, express themselves freely, and embrace life with purpose, many of whom are in the running community.

“We are thrilled that the marathon is approaching and look forward to energizing the event. For us, we are benchmarking on the success of the Tusker Lite Mt Rwenzori Marathon to ensure we bring the same excitement and vibrant atmosphere to Gulu,” Nazzinda said.

Amviko reiterated the kit collection points. In Kampala, kits are available at the marathon office in Arie Towers (5th floor), Fast and Furious at Kampala Club, Omera Restaurant (Bukoto and Forest Mall Lugogo branches), and Zest Sports at Oasis Mall. In Gulu, kits can be collected at CFAO Mobility Offices along Kitgum Road, Gulu City Inn, and the Uganda Baati Gulu Office.

The marathon will be crowned with an after-party, giving runners and revelers a chance to unwind and experience Gulu’s vibrant nightlife. Tusker Lite will light up the evening with a VIP experience for participants and guests.

Now in its second edition, the Gulu City Marathon will feature the 42 km full marathon, 21 km half marathon, 10 km, and 5 km fun and family runs. All runners who complete their races will receive finisher medals as a celebration of their achievement.

Registration for the marathon is still open, at a fee of Shs60,000, which includes a customised event T-shirt and a string bag.
