Outgoing Makindye West MP Allan Ssewanyana has declared that he is stepping back into Uganda’s football leadership race, setting his sights once again on the top seat at the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).
Ssewanyana says he is now entering the contest with more experience and a stronger strategy as he prepares to face long-serving FUFA boss Moses Magogo Hassim, who continues to lead the federation after being re-elected for the 2025–2029 term.
According to Ssewanyana, his earlier attempts to rise within football administration did not succeed because of what he describes as a tightly controlled system that favours established leadership structures.
He recalls his 2017 ambition as the moment he first seriously challenged for influence in Ugandan football, but says the process did not allow him a fair chance to compete effectively.
At the time, Ssewanyana says he believed he had already built a solid base of support among Uganda Premier League decision-makers and voting delegates, but argues that the momentum shifted before ballots were cast.
He now insists that the experience has changed his approach.
Ssewanyana says he has studied how football governance works more closely and believes he is better positioned to mount a serious challenge in future elections.
