Vipers SC are champions of the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League after beating Maroons FC 3-0 at St Mary’s Stadium, Wankulukuku this evening.
The win gave Vipers an uncatchable lead with one match left to play, ending KCCA FC’s slim title hopes.
It’s the club’s eighth league crown and their second in a row. Yunus Sentamu set the tone in the 46th second, slotting home from close range for what looks like the fastest goal of the season.
Vipers stayed in control and made it 2-0 just before half-time when Usama Arafat’s shot took a deflection and beat Maroons keeper Hassan Matovu. Karim Watambala sealed the result in the 58th minute with a calm finish for his 11th league goal this season.
The victory was a strong response after a rough patch for the Kitende side. They’d been knocked out of the Uganda Cup by Kitara FC and gone six games without a win across all competitions.
The result puts Vipers on 64 points, five clear of second-placed KCCA FC, who drew 0-0 with URA FC at Nakivubo. Vipers will close out the season at home against Express FC on Saturday, where fans are expected to join the title celebrations.
With the win, Vipers also secured Uganda’s spot in next season’s CAF Champions League.
