The Uganda Breweries Managing Director Andrew Kilonzo during the event’s panel discussion said the organisation has instead integrated sustainability into our overall company strategy and this continues to yield great results.

“We thank the Institute of Corporate Governance for giving us this platform to recognize and celebrate our ethical and environmental practices leaving a positive impact on our communities and country.”

Beyond being awarded, the awards also recognised the strides made towards resilience by the 60 companies and entities that participated from across the economy.

“While resilience is no longer considered a choice but an essential aspect for the survival and health of institutions, we are proud to have resilience and sustainability measures embedded in the DNA of Uganda Breweries.”

Uganda Breweries’ sustainability measures are embedded in six areas such as sustaining quality growth, embedding efficiency every day, investing smartly, promoting positive drinking with alcohol used responsibly in a balanced lifestyle where consumers drink better, not more, championing Inclusion & Diversity for underrepresented groups such as women and persons with disabilities as well as Pioneer Grain to Glass Sustainability to ensure that every stage of our production is environmentally responsible and minimizes related impacts.

The event’s Guest of Honor, IGG Beti Kamya commended all 60 participating for a good job so far, we take her words to heart on how there is still a long way to go as the work continues.
