Ndere Cultural Centre was transformed into a giant playground on Saturday as Captain Morgan hosted the sixth edition of Qweshunga Day, bringing childhood games, water fights and music together for an evening of entertainment.

The event gave adults a chance to put aside their usual routines and take part in games and activities inspired by childhood memories.

Guests started the day with gogolo, sliding down a concrete slope on makeshift slides made from jerrycans tied together with ropes.

The fun continued with water games, as revellers picked up water guns and took aim at anyone who crossed their paths.

Those looking for more action could jump into bouncing castles and trampolines, while others moved indoors for games including otyo, chess, matatu and ludo.

Captain Morgan Brand Manager Raymond Karama said the event reflected the brand’s focus on play and having fun.

“Play and party is the Captain Morgan DNA and Qweshunga has given us an opportunity to bring the spice to the play. We absolutely look forward to the next edition,” Karama said.

Penelope Sanyu from Qweshunga said the event was designed to reconnect adults with games they enjoyed growing up.
“With each edition of Qweshunga, our goal is to take everyone down memory lane with some of their favourite games and that’s exactly what we did today, enabling carefree fun that most adults didn’t know they needed,” she said.

As the evening progressed, the games gave way to a full-blown Captain Morgan party, with DJs City Girl, Matson, Anslem and Dre taking over the decks.

Singer Winnie Nwagi also performed, sending the crowd into a frenzy as the event moved into the night.

The sixth Qweshunga Day combined nostalgic games, outdoor activities and live entertainment, giving revellers a chance to relive some of their childhood experiences in an adult setting.
