Hoima City Stadium is now fully complete, according to Sports Minister Peter Ogwang.

In a brief post on social media accompanied by a video, Ogwang announced, “Hoima City Stadium has been completed. We now await its commissioning by President Yoweri Museveni.”

Constructed on a 42-acre site, the $130 million facility was built by Turkish firm Summa, which impressively beat its 18-month completion deadline. Construction on Hoima Stadium began in July 2024.

The stadium is one of Uganda’s flagship projects as the country prepares to co-host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) alongside Kenya and Tanzania.

Hoima Stadium features a 20,000-seat main arena, and a wide range of modern training and competition facilities. It includes an athletics track, a rugby pitch, a state-of-the-art gym, and a swimming pool for athlete recovery.

The indoor arena, with a seating capacity of 2,080, can host volleyball, basketball, boxing, badminton, table tennis, and other indoor sports.

The facility also boasts a spacious cafeteria capable of serving 300 people—the largest in Hoima—and a parking lot accommodating over 1,000 vehicles.

It includes 10 concession units for general spectators, 12 VIP suites (including a presidential suite), and family-friendly private lounges.

Additionally, more than 2,000 square metres have been set aside for commercial leasing, providing space for banks, retail outlets, and corporate offices.
