The former Director of Health Services, Planning and Development at the Ministry of Health, Dr Isaac Ezati has died.  He was the head of the accident and emergency department at Mulago Hospital.

According to Dr Asuman Lukwago, the permanent secretary to the Ministry of Health, Dr Ezati passed on at about 3am this morning at Uganda Cancer Institute where he has been receiving treatment.

“It’s a huge loss to the department, everyone who has passed through Mulago has been supervised by Dr Ezati and personally he was senior to me,” Dr Lukwago said, adding that Dr. Ezati had just returned from receiving treatment in India albeit very weak and was therefore admitted at the Cancer Institute where he drew his last breath.

Dr Ezati served as the deputy director of Mulago National Referral Hospital around 2010 as a government consultant before retiring last year to join politics. He however lost in the parliamentary elections in Maracha.
