Renowned events promoter Abbey Musinguzi, known by his alias Abtex, has revealed that he took a break from school in Primary Three due to his strong hatred of early morning wake-ups.

Speaking during an interview on NTV’s Mwasuze Mutya show, Abtex shared that he attended Kijjabwami Primary School in Masaka until Primary Three when he decided to take a break due to financial constraints and his dislike for early mornings.

“I had to take a break because my father didn’t have enough money to support my education. Besides that, I despised waking up so early in the morning,” Abtex narrated.

After a year, he resumed his studies at Kissajjagulwa Primary School, where he continued until Primary Six.

Subsequently, Abtex transferred to Bwaala Primary School, still in Masaka.

“I managed to attend Primary Seven, but the day I left the school, the headmaster wanted to punish me. However, I couldn’t bear beatings, so I made the decision not to return to any school again,” he explained.

Additionally, Abtex shared that another factor contributing to his negative school experience was being ridiculed by his peers, who nicknamed him “Jjaja,” meaning “the grandfather.” This led him to feel uncomfortable in class.

Following his departure from formal education, Abtex went to the streets and began hustling to make a living. Despite the challenges he faced earlier in life, in 1998, he embarked on a career as an event promoter, and since then, numerous successful events and shows have been attributed to his name, including the renowned Enkuka show and Masaza Cup.
