Singer Allan Toniks has lifted the lid on the darker side of fame, revealing the immense mental strain that comes with being a public figure in the music industry.

According to Toniks, fans’ crippling expectations and vicious social media comments often drive artists to the brink.

“Fans can be suffocating with their expectations, and the constant barrage of negative comments on social media takes a devastating toll on our mental health,” Toniks said, adding that many artists turn to drugs to cope with the pressure.

On the issue of the growing rifts within the Ugandan entertainment industry, sparked by bitter political divisions, Toniks said, “We need to respect each other’s opinions and political views. Attacking artists for their stance only harms the industry in the long run.”

The singer called for unity and collective success over selfish ambition.

“Let’s stop sabotaging our own industry for personal gain. By working together, we can build something truly sustainable and successful for everyone,” he appealed.
