President Yoweri Museveni has shared a light-hearted account of how traditionalists performed various rituals on him and his NRA group during their liberation struggle in the 1980s.

Speaking during the 26th National Prayer Breakfast at State House in Entebbe, Museveni praised all faiths, including traditional healers, for helping him win the liberation struggle that brought him to power in 1986.

The president recounted how one traditional healer made him jump over a slaughtered hen three times to ensure victory over the government he was fighting.

He further stated that whenever they were planning an attack, the traditional healers performed rituals on them and their guns for blessings, guidance, and protection.

Museveni said all faiths are equally important and urged Ugandans to desist from religious sectarianism and promote the spirit of togetherness in nation-building.

Meanwhile, the National Prayer Breakfast was graced by several high-profile guests, including Her Excellency Jewel Howard-Taylor, former Vice President of Liberia, Apostle Isi Igenegba from Nigeria, Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, and her Deputy Thomas Tayebwa, among others.

While addressing the guests, First Lady Janet Museveni said it is shameful that Uganda ranks so high on the corruption index. She said that everyone should be involved in the fight against corruption, with the goal of restoring transparency, integrity, and public trust.
