Two-time African Footballer of the Year, El Hadji Diouf, holds Ugandan singer Eddy Kenzo in very high regard, describing him as a continental asset who must be protected by all Africans.

The 44-year-old, who arrived in Uganda on Saturday morning at Kenzo’s invitation, praised the singer for bringing joy to millions across the continent through his music.

“Everywhere I go in Africa, people ask me about my friend Eddy. They want to see him because they love him. Even my sister loves Eddy more than me—she posts his photos every day,” Diouf said.

“He is a son of Africa, and he is shining for Africa. I am a Pan-Africanist; I prefer Eddy over any artiste from America or Europe. I am committed to promoting our continent,” he added.

Diouf is one of Africa’s most celebrated footballers, remembered for his contributions to Senegal’s golden generation in the early 2000s. He played a pivotal role in guiding the Lions of Teranga to the 2002 AFCON final and the quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup in South Korea and Japan.

At the club level, Diouf played for several teams, including Sochaux, Rennes, Lens, Bolton Wanderers, Doncaster Rovers, Blackburn Rovers, Leeds United, and English giants Liverpool FC.
