American Grammy Award-winning artist Matt B has donated his Grammy trophy to the Uganda Tourism Board for public display at the Uganda Museum.

The gesture is meant to inspire the next generation of African creatives, especially young Ugandan artists.

Matt B, accompanied by his wife, arrived in Uganda on Wednesday to personally hand over the accolade, recognising the country’s role in shaping his music career and success on the global stage.

While he didn’t win the Best Global Music Performance category—losing to South African artists Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini, and Nomcebo Zikode—Matt B took a moment to celebrate Ugandan superstar Eddy Kenzo, his collaborator on the Grammy-nominated track “Gimme Love.”

His big win came at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards in 2025, where he clinched Best Global Music Album for Alkebulan II, a body of work that celebrates African roots, sounds, and storytelling.

Matt B acknowledged the significant contribution of Ugandan talent to the success of the album. He praised producers Bashkilla and BiT HD, and credited songwriters Ghost Elnino, Rulz, Ziginana, and Tarley for their creative input.

“This is more than just a personal win,” Matt B said. “It’s a victory for Uganda, for East Africa, and for Africa as a whole. It shows the world just how powerful African music and creativity can be.”
