When President Museveni suspended public and private transport, as well as unnecessary movement of people and imposed a countrywide curfew to start at 7 p.m. without prior warning, it meant that everyone was to stay where they were for 14 days.

Those for whom the directive found in places within a walkable distance to their homes were able to walk back to their places of abode, but those that were miles away and needed a car or boda boda to leave were left with no option but to stay until the lockdown was lifted.

This is true for one Aggieh Tumuheire who hosted a man on the same day curfew was announced, and the two have been stuck with each other for all that time. Tumuheire has begged President Museveni to lift the ban for private cars to move for at least for a day, so that this man can leave her house.

“Please President Kaguta Museveni, if things become better next week, at least allow a day for private cars to move. I am stuck with this guy who had come for a visit the same day curfew was announced. (I am) almost going into forced marriage. Please help!” Tumuheire cried out on her Twitter page.

President Museveni is set to address the country tomorrow at midday to provide guidelines on his earlier directives, as it is understood the 14 days of lockdown will have elapsed by tomorrow.
