City lawyer petitions court over Social Media tax

City lawyer and business consultant Silver Kayondo has taken to the Constitutional Court protesting the just implemented social media tax.

“We contend that the daily payment for OTT services is an infringement on the freedom of expression and hurts businesses.”

Kayondo, a co-founder of Drone Nerds told Matooke Republic that he will move the court to strike down the tax.

Besides the social media tax, Kayondo and team are also petitioning court to cause for a revision of the 1% tax on all Mobile Money transactions which he says will hurt financial inclusion efforts and the economy at large.
