The Shs200 daily OTT tax slapped on social media tax is under review by the government! Before you get excited and start chest thumping, the revision in the tax does not include the possibility of scrapping the newly found revenue source.

The permanent secretary ministry of ICT and national guidance Vincent Bagiire says they are now engaged in discussions with the ministry of finance and the Uganda Communications Commission with a view of having the tax payable for 24 hours.

It follows concerns raised by members of the public over the expiry of the tax at midnight regardless of the time one pays.
