Veteran Journalist, Andrew Mwenda had the energy of an ox when he declared a one-man war against the political and radical extremists inclined to the new political movement – People Power headed by Kyadondo East MP, Robert Kyagulanyi known widely as Bobi Wine.

Mwenda went bare knuckles with Bobi Wine’s fans on Facebook and Twitter calling them “intolerant riff-raffs” adding that their ‘cult-leader’ did have what it takes to even be Chairman LC.1 of his village.

However, Mwenda has since disappeared from the internet webs with his last post his official page recorded on October 24, 2018.

Currently, it is the people power ‘riff-raffs’ looking for Mwenda to give his take on matters affecting the country.

The journalist cum businessman who moved from being President Museveni’s biggest critique to his biggest defender has not been able to sustain his war against People Power as he did with FDC strongman, Dr Kiiza Besigye.

Mwenda’s ‘change of heart’ has been a subject of contention especially after he picked interest in de-campaigning every individual that expressed interest in vying for the highest political office in Uganda.

“Comparing Bobi Wine to Museveni is dishonesty, and distorting context for sinister motives. Mwenda has embarked on reproving Bobi Wine – a relief from sustained distortions against Besigye and his so-called radicals,” Morris Komakech says.

Komakech further jokes that Mwenda’s transformation is perhaps the only fundamental change that has ever happened in NRM’s Uganda in 33 years.

As People Power’s support grows, Mwenda has retreated to his usual analytical self-discussing the economic and social-political issues (see tweet below) unlike previously when Bobi Wine was his permanent fixture.

Today I visited the factory of Goodwill Uganda Ceramics Company in Kapeeka Industrial Park. They produce 32,000 square meters of floor and wall tiles per day, employ 1,500 Ugandans and use 95% local raw materials. It is impressive manufacturing in Uganda!! pic.twitter.com/89gV6E6kzi

Other circles have claimed that Mwenda took the back seat when fashion designer, Sylvia Owori took on the mantle to criticise musician Bobi Wine’s family for among other things his colour choice for the clothes he wears at public events.

After Mwenda let People Power supporters off the leash, several posts have been made provoking the veteran journalist to return saying that the internet is currently boring without the ‘old man of the clan.’
