ROAD ACCIDENTS: Traffic Police reveal that 366 people died last month

The Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety has released a report indicating that a total of 366 people died in road accidents during the month of June.

According to the traffic police spokesperson, Faridah Nampiima, they registered a total of 1,825 accidents, and out of these, 321 were fatal, 995 were serious, and 509 were minor.

She further stated that there were 1,512 accident victims during the period and, out of these, 366 people died and another 1,146 sustained injuries.

Barely two weeks into the month of July, Nampiima disclosed that 328 accidents have already been registered, and of these, 62 were fatal, 180 were serious, and 86 were minor.

“There were 355 accident victims during this period and out of these 89 people died and 266 sustained injuries,” she said.

Traffic police have urged all drivers to be competent while driving. Also, drivers have been reminded to drive on roads with a copy of a valid driving license to avoid inconveniences.
