Police have arrested 93 suspects during an intelligence-led operation targeting suspected criminals along the Northern Bypass, Busega and Kyengera Flyover.
The operation was conducted on 7 October 2026 between 7pm and 11pm following intelligence reports that suspected criminals were using the areas as hideouts and taking advantage of traffic congestion to rob members of the public.
The operation covered the Northern Bypass, Busega Fish Market and nearby cinema halls, a swamp beyond Mityana Road Flyover towards Bulenga, and other identified locations in Kigwanya Zone, Kampala District.
Police said 93 suspects, including four women, were arrested during the operation. A preliminary search led to the recovery of suspected opium, suspected stolen mobile phones and two knives, among other exhibits.
The suspects and recovered items have been handed over for further processing and investigation.
