Cranes coach Desabre running out of time

With President Museveni offering Uganda Cranes camp Shs200m and a chartered plane for the return leg to Lesotho, the national football team has no excuses ahead of the crucial double header coming up at Namboole on Saturday, October 13 and three days later in Maseru on Tuesday October 16.

Despite Cranes leading Group L on four points, Uganda is yet to take solid command of its charge to the Afcon 2019 finals. Ahead of the Lesotho double header, Cranes needs a minimum of four points in both fixtures if we are to remain in serious contention in the
group.

However, with Sebastien Desabre’s poor run of games this appears to be a taller order than most fans could have imagined only a year ago. But according to Cranes vice-captain Hassan Wasswa, the team is ready to give its all.

“When we come out for training, we always give more than 100%. It is this same spirit that we want to display in the matches. We shall go for all-out attack strategy against Lesotho and personally I am ready to stand tall when called [upon] by the coach,” Wasswa vowed.

The last time Cranes faced Lesotho was in 2007 away in Maseru and game ended in a barren draw but in 2006 the sides had played at Namboole and Cranes won 3-0. Lesotho has drawn both its games in this campaign against Cape Verde and Tanzania, and are second in the group on two points.
