The Ruparelia Group has approved the use of RR Pearl Tower One as the official assembly point for the upcoming Rajiv Ruparelia Memorial Drive.
The event, scheduled for next Sunday, May 3, 2026, will honour the life of the late Rajiv Ruparelia, who died in a road crash on the same date last year.
Organised by TTDrags and Drifts UG, the memorial drive is expected to bring together motorsport enthusiasts, business leaders, and members of the public.
In a request to the Ruparelia Group, organisers highlighted the significance of starting the drive from RR Pearl Tower One, a building named in Rajiv’s honour.
“We respectfully request permission to use RR Pearl Tower One as the official meeting point for the Late Rajiv Ruparelia Memorial Drive scheduled for Sunday May 3, 2026,” the organisers wrote.
They added:
“The Late Rajiv Memorial Drive is a significant occasion aimed at honouring the life and legacy of the late Rajiv Ruparelia. As RR Pearl Tower One was named in his honour, it would be a deeply symbolic and meaningful location to commence the memorial drive.”
The planned route will lead participants to Speke Resort Munyonyo, where Rajiv served as a director, further reflecting his influence within both business and motorsport circles.
Organisers also assured the company of proper planning and safety measures.
“We anticipate participants to convene at RR Pearl Tower One for registration, briefing and the official flag off. We assure you that all necessary arrangements will be made to ensure smooth coordination, adherence to safety protocols and respect for the premises,” they stated.
The Ruparelia Group granted the request, describing the move as part of efforts to honour Rajiv’s lasting impact.
Rajiv Ruparelia is widely remembered for his passion for motorsport and his role in supporting Uganda’s drag racing and drifting scene, as well as encouraging young people to take part in organised automotive sports.
The memorial drive is expected to serve as both a tribute and a celebration of his legacy.
