It is probably one of the best shows Uganda has witnessed. US Rn’B superstar Ne-Yo promised a great show and his hour long performance at the Pop N’Jam show was nothing short of electric.

Lugogo Cricket Oval was filled to capacity as fans of the American star sang along to his hits like So Sick, Miss Independent, Time Of Our Lives, Because of You, One In A Million, Do You, When You are Mad and others.

The mammoth crowd was not a surprise as the show’s organisers Bell Lager gave fans a chance to win free tickets in a promotion where they would send codes under the crowns of Bell bottles to automatically win tickets.

“In fact Ne-Yo is the one demanding me, I should pay him,” said a contented female fan after the show.

The field was soggy, owing to an afternoon downpour, and many joked that they should have put on gum boots, but this didn’t dampen the spirits.

The sound was top notch thanks to Silk Events who collaborated with Gear House South Africa to deliver world class sound.

Ne-Yo outdid himself  performing with passion and energy with perfect vocals the way he sounds on his CDs. He connected well with the audience and his dancers  did their thing in a seductive, but sensual way.

“It’s my first time in Uganda, but definitely not my last. I love you to death,” the singer said as he bowed out.

Like the saying goes, there is no such a thing as free lunch. It turned out Ne-Yo show’s was actually a marketing gimmick as Bell Lager unveiled their new look bottle  with hope that it will help rejuvenate the beer brand especially among the youthful audience.

Several Ugandan performers like Nutty Neithan, Mun G, Navio, Cindy, Sheebah, Irene Ntale and Chameleone also performed.
