Son to former Speaker of Parliament and Attorney General, late Francis Ayume, Dr. Charles Ayume has upset incumbent Minister Evelyn Anite in the NRM primaries for Koboko Municipality Member of Parliament Seat party flag bearer in the forthcoming elections.

The provisional results show Ayume gathered 7384 while Anite gathered 5851.

While addressing the press shortly after the provisional results were announced, soft spoken Ayume said he was confident that he would win Anite.

“Anite said she’s the gate way to Koboko forgetting it’s the people that have the key,” Ayume said.

He has dared the minister to contest as independent in the general election.

“I know Anite is loud but I dare her to stand as independent. I will again defeat her,” he said.

However, Anite has conceded defeat as she revealed that she cannot stand as independent.

“Standing as independent is for cowards. I will not stand,” Anite said.
