On Saturday, November 23, Kampala will host its first ever Thanksgiving dinner dubbed ‘Nsiimye” slated to take place at the Kampala Serena Hotel Gardens.

Directly translated as ‘I appreciate,’ the dinner will celebrate people who have walked the 2019 journey with families, bosses, clients, colleagues, employees and friends as well as appreciate those who have made a difference in the lives of those around them in an elegant and grand concert.

Organizers of the show have confirmed a riveting line-up of performances from Uganda’s favourite artists like Maddox Ssematimba, Myko Ouma, Kenneth Mugabi, Naava Grey, Jose Sax, Steve Keys with comedian Patrick Salvador on board as the night’s host.

“We would like to take the time off our daily routines and indulge in a night of recognizing and celebrating those that have been instrumental in making the walk through 2019 worthwhile. Let’s come together, give thanks and keep walking,” said Annette Nakiyaga, Head of Luxury Whisky Portfolio, IUBL.

This will be the first annual Thanksgiving celebration for Kampala as Johnnie Walker in partnership with Kampala Serena Hotel host a grand dinner fuelled with lots of networking opportunities, entertainment and thanksgiving.

The festive celebrations fall around the same time as countries like the United States of America prepare for their Thanksgiving Day celebrations to be marked Thursday, November 28.

Thanksgiving originated as a harvest festival in the United States. It has since been widely celebrated as a day where people take the opportunity to give thanks for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year. It has been nationally celebrated since 1789 and a proclamation by Abraham Lincoln to recognize the celebrations as a federal holiday in 1863 and approved by the Congress in 1941.

Tickets for a chance to dine with the big leagues, loyal patrons and corporates go for Shs3,000,000 to accommodate a table of eight.
